Artists Develop Art Making SkillsI learned many new things about art from my environment project. This being, because I never really have done a scratchboard sketch before. I had to use different shades and scratches to get the pictures looking the way I wanted them to. I had a hard time being gentle with the scratchboard at first, but then I learned how to still make accurate scratches by being gentle with it. I would say that I learned how to be patient with my work instead of rushing through it like I normally do. Artists Take RisksI think I took many new risks with my art this six weeks. I tried something new that I wasn't so sure I could do. This being the scratchboard art, I was really scared about this. Turns out I was really good at it if I took my time and actually concentrated on it. I messed up a little at first, because I was to rough with the scratchboard utensil. Bits and pieces of the scratchboard were coming up as I was scratching it. I had to be a little more gentle and patient with my work.
Chalk PastelsChalk was by far the dirtiest pastel that I have worked with. I would not prefer this for shading, because you get a lot of extra mess. I don't think I would want to do this again. Oil PastelsI liked oil pastels very much, but I would not recommend it to people who don't like crayons. I especially liked it when the colors were able to be marked on. It was a little messy, and hard to get off of my hands.
I developed more art skills by looking and learning how to draw something better. I had to look in a book about how to draw faces better. This helped me out a lot better, because at first I didn't know how to draw them right. Doing so I learned to draw faces a heck of a lot better. I would suggest this to any person who is just learning how to draw.
Man vs machine was my favorite thing so far in here that we've done. The texture and the outline was I'd say the hardest part of this drawing. I like the eyes the most, because that is the one thing that I focused on the most. The idea of the cyborg face came from a drawing on Pinterest. I hope to do more drawings like this in the future.
Girl with a Pearl Earring
Created: 1665 Made by: Johannes vermeer Materials: Oil on canvas Dimensions: 44.5 cm × 39 cm (17.5 in × 15 in) We had to create pinch pots out of clay. Using your fingers and other tools to shape it according to what shape you wanted. I would love to do it again and cant wait until we finish them. Hatching, Cross HatchingI had to use a sharpie and draw lines according to the way the shadows lay. I would prefer this for shadowing more than actually shading. The cross hatching was a little more difficult than hatching.
